SharePoint does not provide out-of-the-box, easy-to-use support for email storage and archiving in document libraries. Email storage and archiving still remains tightly in the control of mail servers and siloed from SharePoint.......until now.
"There is no better product available that enables Outlook to communicate properly with SharePoint than WISDOM Message."
-- Michael Auschrat, Cohos Evamy, Canada
The WISDOM Message add-on to Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS), finally delivers an efficient way for users to store email messages in their SharePoint document libraries by subject, customer, client, project, matter or whatever taxonomy an organization uses for document storage.
Perhaps most important, WISDOM Message has been purpose-built to make the process as easy and intuitive as possible for users to move email messages to the appropriate storage location in SharePoint. By incorporating a tree view of SharePoint sites and libraries and enabling drag-and-drop movement within Outlook, WISDOM Message provides the email-archiving-to-SharePoint functionality that is missing from native Outlook and SharePoint. Even better, WISDOM Message accomplishes its magic in a way that exposes the sites and libraries that a user has permissions to use, without the user having to take any actions to "register" those sites and libraries within Outlook. |

Fact Sheet: WISDOM Message A better way to save and retrieve email messages in SharePoint directly from Microsoft Outlook! |
| Since email has become the most common method of written communication in most offices, there has been an increasing need to file and retrieve topic-related emails easily and efficiently. WISDOM Message provides the necessary tools to make SharePoint a viable solution for this purpose. |
Drag-and-drop email messages from Outlook to save them to SharePoint document libraries |
| With WISDOM Message you simply drag-and-drop a message in Outlook to save it to any document library or folder in SharePoint. You can drag-and-drop messages to SharePoint locations even when Outlook is offline, or you are using Outlook Web Access (OWA). |
 |
Intuitive tree-view display of SharePoint sites and libraries from directly within Outlook |
| WISDOM Message provides an intuitive tree-view display of your complete SharePoint document environment, directly from within Microsoft Outlook. Subject to SharePoint access permissions (which are strictly observed by WISDOM Message) the WISDOM tree-view will show all document storage areas in multiple SharePoint servers, running either in Windows SharePoint Services or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. |
 |
Full fidelity for messages AND attachments |
| WISDOM Message automatically saves Outlook email messages to SharePoint as .msg files, which ensures that any attachments are preserved. Clicking the entry for a message in the WISDOM Message tree-view display opens the message in Outlook, exactly as it was saved - including any attachments.
You can also easily save email attachments as independent documents in SharePoint by clicking on a single button in the open email message, choosing the attachment to save and using the intuitive tree-view control to navigate to the document library where you would like to save the attachment. |
 |
Easily find and insert SharePoint documents from document libraries while composing an email |
| WISDOM Message also helps you when you need to find and insert a SharePoint document into an email message while composing the email message. This common need is greatly simplified through the addition of a lookup button on the Outlook new email dialog. |
 |
Complete handling of document library metadata for messages |
| WISDOM Message can assign a unique file name to each .msg file that it saves to SharePoint - by default based on Sender, Sent date/time and Subject. As it saves to SharePoint, WISDOM Message will automatically use the attributes of the Outlook message to set values of custom document library columns such as To, CC, BCC, From, SentOn, ReceivedTime, Attach Count, etc. WISDOM Message will prompt for any other custom metadata columns that are present in the destination library. WISDOM Message supports multiple Content Types and all SharePoint column types, including Business Data Catalog columns. |
