To attend a SharePoint Solutions Online Live class, you will need a qualifying computer with a high-speed Internet connection, and a headset (including microphone). Computer speakers and microphone are not sufficient and there is no telephone call-in option for class audio. We'll be using Voice over IP (VOIP), which is the teleconferencing standard, and the headset is a necessity.
You will be using Microsoft Office Live Meeting to connect to the class, and LogMeIn.com to connect to your SharePoint lab environment. You computer must allow the small Live Meeting client program to install, and the LogMeIn ActiveX control to install, in order for you to attend.
Here is the bare minimum that is necessary in terms of the specifications for the computer you’ll be using for the class:
- It needs to be running either Windows 7, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
- IMPORTANT: XP users – you MUST have upgraded to Service Pack 3 in order to take this class.
- It needs to be connected to the Internet via a high-speed connection.
- It needs to be ready to run Microsoft Office Live Meeting. You can click here to make sure it is ready.
- It needs to be able to install the small client software program for Microsoft Office Live Meeting.
- It needs to be able to install the ActiveX control from LogMeIn.com for connecting to our servers for the labs.
- You need a good quality headset (including microphone). You cannot use built-in computer speakers or microphone for our online classes.
