This is a feature on the search results page and it has actually been around in previous versions.

Hi Deepak,
The best way is to use SQL Reporting Services 2008 R2. One of the new features in it is the ability to use SharePoint Lists as data sources in reports.

I have been thinking that ideally the new My Site Status field is the place to indicate a person's "Whereabouts". Ideally, users would put their "Whereabouts" in that field and then everyone could see the person's location by navigating to their public profile page.
